Cloud FinOps

Connect cloud consumption with the workloads and decisions behind it.

A cloud bill can show where money was charged without explaining which application, environment or engineering choice caused it. Cloud FinOps brings usage, cost and technical context together so that teams can decide which changes are worthwhile and who should own them.

Establish a usable view of consumption

CodeAttest examines available cloud cost and usage data alongside workload, application and ownership information. Depending on the environment, the review may cover multiple cloud platforms, Kubernetes, idle resources, anomalies and the quality of tags or other allocation data. Gaps in attribution are part of the finding: an allocation view should not suggest precision that the source data cannot support.

The analysis connects spending to the services and teams that can explain or change it. A cost increase may reflect growth, a design decision, an idle resource or a change in the way usage is recorded. Understanding the cause matters before treating the increase as waste.

Move from observations to engineering choices

Potential changes are examined against performance, reliability and operational needs. Rightsizing, scheduling, configuration or ownership changes are useful only when the resulting service remains fit for purpose. CodeAttest prioritizes opportunities that can be reviewed by the responsible engineers and identifies how their effect should be measured.

The work can produce a current-state consumption and allocation view, a technically reviewed improvement backlog and recommendations for ownership and recurring review. It does not promise a savings figure before the environment is assessed.

When to use this service

Cloud FinOps is relevant when spending cannot be connected clearly to workloads and owners, when anomalies need investigation or when possible savings need engineering validation before action. For continuing analysis and coordination, see Managed FinOps.
